We have cunning snails……… Every day I empty the letter box of letters…… and snails. Next day the snails are back. To get in, they have to trail up a single timber post and in through the letter slot. There is no other way in. What on earth drives them to repeat this, day in, day out…..? I understand that letters are edible (to a snail) …… but really ? When I empty the box, I throw the snails to the other side of the garden, so it’s quite a trek if they are the same little buggers…. Cheers, Mark
We had a snail issue in Turramurra when I lived there. The neighbour got a cheque in the mail once, and it was “For the sum of: …….munch, munch, munch….” She had to get the sender, to send another cheque, as the first one was missing the words!
Scomo in election mode promising root & branch clear out by election day of all misogynists in Parliament House Canberra.
Probably Bidens pilosa aka Cobbler's Pegs or Sticky Beaks or Pain in the backside plant. Trying to rid these "special moments of nature" out of the dogs' yard is an ongoing job this time of year. Nevertheless a very smart design.
With all the rain we are getting, our yard sounds like a huge pot of popcorn being cooked ! The Striped Marsh frogs are holding their own tennis open Cheers, Mark
So, looked out the kitchen window this morning. It (the water not the window) wasn't there yesterday!
View from the corner post. I guess the large friendly letters on the topo maps which spell "Subject to inundation" are referring to this "Nature's Special Moment". It's going to save me a lot of mowing though. And weren't the Spaniels excited about seeing the ducks so close to the fence line. They really thought it was a special moment.
Greg, if the ducks are anything like those around here, the Cockers will be teased mercilessly ….. Satchmo, Boxer 1 of 3, continued to swim out into Pittwater chasing a duck….the duck would wait until she was about 3’ away and then fly another 10’ away. I honestly thought I was going to have to put the tinny in to get her back. Satch eventually tired and started the long swim back home……..good thing Boxers have webbed feet ! Cheers, Mark
This fellow has visited us two nights in a row….. A juvenile Tawny Frogmouth: pics are a bit blurry ‘cause they were taken through glass…..but you get the idea. He/she doesn’t seem fazed by Billie’s presence and appears to be using the ambient light that is shining on to the garden to look for snacks…… cheers, Mark
North Narrabeen Jump down at the end of the ramp on the left and it’s usually a great spot with a sand area for the kids to swim and play on the rock shelf. Not today !!
