    Thought i'd say hi

Just bought my first bus, its a 75 with a 2 litre, not a camper just a tin top, not sure what the correct lingo is. Grew up with air cooled VWs in my family and had a beetle in the early 90s, always been a bit of an ambition to own a Kombi and now seemed like the right time. Looking forward to learning a bit on this site and personalising it a bit when I take posession.

    Thanks for the add

    Alex

Here's one of the pics from the ad, i'm not a big fan of the paint scheme, but the second hand kombi shop didn't have a lot of choices available, especially in my price range with reg and roadie. So some kind of upside down homage to the VN Calais it is!

Bugger..... a bay with a splittie paint job.:(
Easy fix tho. Just repaint nose to trim line.
    Bloody top wheels:D. 15 x 50 by sight?
Looks a treat bar the imitation front:(.
    Cheers

Like I said, beggars cant be choosers. It will be staying like this for a while, more practical improvements to make before I get too concerned about aesthetics. I'm undecided about the wheels, I feel like they should have a centre cap of some description, Ill need to identify them first and then see if I can find some, I got a set of 4 original rims as part of the deal so I suppose I can go either way.
    Cheers for the feedback.

It’s a Kombi. More so, it’s YOUR Kombi, for you to do whatever you choose to do, that suits what you want, and makes you happy! ;)

Ignore the pseudo purists...... and just enjoy the ride! :)

I love the sunroof. Awesome addition to non air con vehicles.

@Alex75 ..... welcome to the party that never ends ;)
Got a suspicion that those rims could date back to the '70/80's and possibly made by Performance Wheels or Globe Wheels or ROH - centre caps will be hard to find
Check where the centre cap should be and there may be a brand name and size otherwise remove one and check the inside for the info. If the holes for the wheel studs look to have been bored out then they'd more than likely be from a Ford .

Awesome, that's given me a place to start at least, can't beat the help of a good forum. Although I must admit, being back on a forum feels very turn of the century haha, I didn't even know they were still a thing until Saturday.
    Thanks for your knowledge.

Welcome, Alex! I might spot you around the eastern suburbs sometime. ...when we're allowed more than 5kms from home, that is...

Getting excited now, just got a text from the seller and the roadworthy is booked in for tomorrow. Not long now. Apparently it had to have a gender neutral name, so has been dubbed (pardon the pun) Jessie.

Picked it up today, very happy so far, not going further than 5km home should keep the wear and tear down I guess. Lol
