Once you blast you are committed to a costly lot of work.

This section is for new members to introduce themselves :)
When seeking advice it is best to start a new thread in the Members Rides or Resto Corner section ;) thus all your posts & questions are contained in the 1 thread :D

Hi guys, Just put my 76 transporter "Ted"in for some rust work and a new paint job. Thanks for all the threads, having a ball reading all the stories and looking at the different vans. I will post pics as they come through.

Being new here, I thought it appropriate to "introduce" myself...
I don't currently own a VW, however I have history!
My first car (back when dinosaurs ruled the earth.. 1978) was a '68 Beetle - I called it "Alexander" and it answered just the same - A. A. Milne - (I have a son with the same name)!
I rebuilt the engine on my parents kitchen table utilising John Muirs' iconic workshop manual. Dad helped split and re-assemble the block, too.
It was traded in on a new 1982 Microbus - a wonderful drive, called "Gus".
We only managed to fill four of the six available seats with children and eventually it was on-sold. During the same period there were two other Beetles - a '65 and '67...
As you can deduce, I've got form.
My current wheels are a Toyota Echo - "Cho" (someone keyed the entire left side and broke the "E" off the "Echo" two days after I purchased it), which has been very reliable - only requiring two clutch replacements so far...
But, the children have grown up and I'm nearing retirement. So, I'm heading for some serious "Grey Nomading" in the not-too-distant future.
I've been in contact with Trakka. Since I don't own a house, I thought I'd invest (read empty the savings account) in a Trakkadu and that can be my "home"...
I thought that might qualify me to join the "KombiClub"?
It will continue my "VWcentricity" and enable me to explore all of that "big island to the north", hopefully for quite a long time...
In the interim I'll be spending a lot of time sifting this site for info that will (and has already been) be valuable to me, prior to my purchase.

    Welcome.
    Do appreciate the trakkadu setup.
Should give much pleasure but unlikely a suitable candidate for kitchen table engine builds. Hopefully. :D
    Enjoy the wanderlust.

Welcome to the Kombi Club Rodger! :)

I reckon you still miss that 82 Microbus. ;)

If you want an older alternative to the Trakkadu, there is an absolute gem for sale on here, that is def worth considering:
