After a phone call today from Lanis On The Beach to say they have opened up camping on the airport ✈️ And we have a spot, I guess it’s official and it’s time to start the next installment of the Sunburnt Express.

October weekend is always a clash of car events for us. Coming from a family of many cars, makes and models there is something on across all fields. For the last 6 years we have ventured to Albury to the ‘Van In’ with our HQ Panno to join up with about another 60 vans and chill out camping for the weekend. However Old Bar has been on the radar for several years and after the Valla trip fell through this year, due to an 80th party for my Dad, we decided we would try for Old Bar.

We took the wagon and van to work yesterday do they didn’t feel left out and now it’s all about the Sunburnt Express.

Today we got word that we had a piece of ground to call home and pitch the tent on so it’s all systems go.

The blinker switch was playing up last weekend so Dno pulled that apart as much as he could. After a lot of testing and inspecting the small coils of wispy smoke coming out of it on the off position wasn’t promising! However a new night and more inspecting and calling of the brains trust, Dno found the small copper tab inside was flattened and touching both poles. A small screwdriver and that face you pull when contorting in small places did the trick. We have a backup coming via express post incase we have let too much magic smoke out or the the blinker fluids has past its used by date.

Back to my assigned jobs! Finding the ‘right’ nuts and bolts for the job. Then fitting them in small places. :)

Personally, I think this bus is grossly overrated. I mean, why would you want so many windows when you can only look out of one at a time. 11 window busses are where it’s really at!! And as for all that original paint, grab yourself a couple of cans of matt black and give that thing a spray job!!;):D:D
Happy, safe travels guys. Keep the pics coming as usual Hayles so us hard sloggers can ride along with you!

Haha yes, just a handful of bolts out of the container of mysteries. You're probably correct there Grant. :):p I just had to find 2 matching with washers and nuts for the new temperature gauge.

Last of the late nights installing a temperature gauge. It was a trick to install as we couldn’t go through the belly pans or through the bus so Dno followed the seam underneath and clipped it up.

Ahhhh another two holes in my bus!
