    You have been busy Bernie.

Great progress on the kombi seeing you had an imminent time consumer on the way. :D

    Congrats though.

Well soooo much for heaps of time...

But I did manage to get the welder fired up over the weekend and took care of a few more holes. This time in the window sils where the flipper windows did their thing.

Just happened to have kept a section of sill off one of the other kombis which fitted up nicely.

Next step is another hole in the roof this time drivers side front - aaarrrggghhh

Let's hope I do a better job than the back corner.

Oops I ment to delete that that - I was playing with reposting pics

Actually I have made some progress I think I have dealt with all the rust in the body now - a bit of bog to smooth over some rough spots and then it's on to the doors :)

Got some quality Kombi time today.

The sliding door track had worn out right where the wheel sits when the door is closeing and would pop off the track. Not cool
    [IMG]

I had obtained a replacement track but hell there’s a lot of welds to drill out and then get it all realigned, sounds like too much work:rolleyes:

So thought I’d have a go at filing the grove with weld and grind it back into shape.
    First fill with weld
    [IMG]

Then grind down to shape - I used a cutting disk on the dremmel to shape the inside edge

If I can offer a word of advice for any one thinking of doing their own repairs and looking at getting a welder. Don’t waste your time on a Gasless mig - spend the little bit extra and get the gas. Sure Gas less works fine but with Gas it makes it a lot easier and a lot less clean up afterwards

Spring is here Bernie......the metal is now above 0 degrees. ;)

Time to hook in, before your work becomes a bush fire hazard.......:)

Yep that’s the plan, I’m trying to work out what the paint code is at the moment. I hope to buy paint this week. I hope to get the body undercoated before the end of the month.

If anyone can help with a code for the paint I would be greatly appreciative. Unfortunately the paint code thread has suffers the curse of photobucket like all my post :(

    Thanks for that.

I would not have picked the colour as been mellow yellow o_O

There is the remnants of a sticker on the drivers side door frame I thought would have been the paint code but it appears I was incorrect. The only numbers visiabke appear to be 243 I've got a picture of it to up load but need to find my phone.

I am intending to maintain the original colour or close to it. - having done a colour change on Nats beetle and my old Kombi I don't really want to go down that path again
