    Hi,
Does anybody know how to remove the actual ignition barrel from the big metal part that goes over the steering column on a late bay (77)? The chunky metal part is already removed and we have no keys. We've already looked at the previous ignition barell threads but they were for early models.
    Thanks,
    Gabriella

Good to see someone having a go. Easily done, just a little fiddly.

If you can get a hold of green coloured official VW service manual it explains well and in detail how to do job some after 1976 you have to drill the hole in case so as to depress spring to release lock barrel, Cheers
