I just fell into the "Trap". Lol
Migrated from Swedish to english to German over a long span.
I guess the logical step was the move from a British 4wd tourer to a German camper that I can easily fix.
No more cooling leaks. Lol. Only air.
I thank all who have helped me get my passion underway. Sadly the Porsches have been neglected.
Summer will revitalize that !!!!
I met another of the early kombi club guys in hobart. I was a uni student with a bay window ('79) that car was sold then written off..... Alot has changed since then. I do find myself coming back from time to time, hoping to find that split I have always wanted.
My bus was running a little rough on a road trip from melbourne ..i saw a tidy kombi in the car park at Airlie beach...left a note on its windscreen...asking if they knew a Kombi Mechanic in the area
Later that evening i got a text...."the kombi club recommends Paul Wilson in mackay"..never heard of the kombi club until then.
I ended up staying at paul wilson's place...well sleeping in my van in his driveway.
A few months later ...i was in Nimbin..and i met Lorraine...who insisted that i go on the kombi konvoy from Byron to Nimbin....since then have been to lots of KC events
Good to see you posting again Sag Man.
I bought a couple of front seats for my Kombi off Ebay from a guy called Nathan in Wonthaggi who's crazy into oval beetles. When I went to pick them up, we chatted a bit, he gave me a heap of advice and pointed me in the direction of this forum.
Not sure how and why I joined on 15 October 2005. It is one site I visit almost on a daily basis. Thanks to Roy for his support to make this forum happen.

Hi, reading the entries in this post, really makes me feel like a newb. It's always difficult to find passionate people in any field. I previously owned a Beetle, 75 Super, but I've also had Jeeps and I go diving. Every interest evolved around people who are passionate enough to keep turning up, despite conditions, and provide guidance and knowledge to those venturing in. I'm glad I've found this forum it's on my fav list and Bella is definitely my passion.
I just saw this post and wondered who owned the blue split with the light in the middle as it went past me lately. Mine is normally parked up (work hours at least) at Shoal Bay across from Harbourside Haven. Have to catch up…….take care.
Hi Andrew, if you're going to Dubs by the Lake at the end of the month, I'll see you there. We're turning up Sunday. Family event Saturday.
I wasn't big on computer's or internet back in the day but when I started I found this site on Aug 15, 2008, I haven't contributed very much over the time as life usually just gets in the way but am trying harder these days, I bought my first Kombi/Sopru when I was 20 years old back in 1979 which was a 76 model and have had one pretty much ever since except for 15 months when I sold the first one to fund my deposit for my first house, I deeply regretted that and had another 76 Sopru after saving hard for those 15 months and really haven't been away from having a Kombi in the shed ever since which is now 42 years, and now the shed is full of them, and we still have a 76 as our camper, I remember going to the VW nationals back in the day at the Valentine Soccer fields out Parklea Markets way, at the time it was the national field for the Australian team, and we have been going to Nambucca for as long as I can remember, not so much the bus stop as Easter was always my national title weekend for karting, its always a happy time when we are out and about in a VW and also when I am on this site, great people here and this is one happy place for me, cheers and thanks everyone for sharing their knowledge, Greg
