Only have receipts going back to 1984:

Mr D and Mrs M (Margret) Morse
    Ferny Hills, Brisbane ,QLD.

I bought the bus in 1988 for $6,500 from Moorooka Mitsubishi (formally Annand & Thompson, VW Dealers) just after it was traded in.

My Dad thought I was crazy...still am.

The only one I am 100 percent certain of is the one that I've inherited from Gabriella, which had receipts going back to day 1... purchased at Lannock in 1977 and originally owned by a family in Pepper Road, Falls Creek NSW... after having been round Australia once, changing owners twice and moving here and there, then ending up in a scrapyard before Bria and I got hold of it, it now resides, 33 years later... a mere half a kilometer away from it's original home at my Kombi sanctuary/graveyard. :)

As for BC, I only know for certain her history back to 1992 when the 2nd owner, a now retired VW mechanic named Geoff Hicks purchased her... from memory I think she came from South Australia? I'd actually like to know a bit more so I might go pay Mr Hicks a visit tomorrow and see what I can find out.

    Original price: ?

My parents in law ordered this in late 1973 but they had to wait for six months for it to be built and imported. They originally ordered a blue one but when it turned up it was orange (Mellow Yellow) and were told they would have to wait another six months for a blue one so they took the orange one.

We still have the instruction manuals and service record book which are in mint condition, except for some fuel consumption calculations written in the back (based on a fuel price of 55.5 cents per gallon, which was $5.57 to fill the tank).

We also have a card with the VW/Audi Diagnosic and Maintenance Suggested Retail Charges for 1974 - check out the prices!

We also have some of the original service records including "The Volkswagen Diagnosis and Maintenance System - Condition Reports".

Never actually thought about the purchase date till you pointed it out - well spotted!

And as you know, although I'm a keen fan of Asia, I'm not Chinese.

After telling C of your post, she also pointed out that we were married on 19.9.91.

Is this another numerically significant thing?

Or do I just do life changing type things every 11 years or so?

    Freaky numbers Grantus....:wtf:

My Dc is German and my camper is an Aussie...the previous owners inconsequential.
In both cases, not including JP, they didn't respect them, they neglected them and both have had to be rebuilt. It is my challenge to preserve them...

I love my Kombi's, glad I have an aussie built one, and a german one, however, I wouldn't mind a brazilian, but that is probably too much information....

I have 1 mystery bus and 1 history bus.

1976 Deluxe Microbus Owner: Lotte Faulhaber
was originally purchased on August 1976 (same year and month as myself)

purchased in 98 it was by an old KC member Michael Both who owned it for 10 years before I bought it from him.

My 72 is a mystery tho, I got it from someone who only had it a very short time and all I know is "i think it came from Port Lincoln sometime"

How do you find out more info on your bus...?
Can you do your own detective work some how...?
I am interested to know a bit about her as she seems to have lived a bit of a more adventurous life.
