If you have a Sopru camper please vote on this thread. Oldman & I a bit interested about the randomness of Sopru manufacturing.

Mine is behind the passenger seat. The compliance plate for the standard non-Sopru version of the kombi is behind the driver’s seat. EDIT: ...MY driver’s seat

Not sure anymore we can make any definite statements about plate positions Chris....
Mine....Deluxe Package, built in South Australia, has its compliance plate behind the driver’s seat....it’s a ‘76.
As David has pointed out...Sopru builds are not consistent!
    Cheers,
    Mark

No problem Mark. I only meant to say that’s where my plates are. Wasn’t meant to imply they’re all located there. :)

Hi David I am sorry but I can't vote, you haven't given enough options, I have a 76 deluxe with original paint and I have never seen the plate as yet, I have had both front seats out but never removed the wardrobe as I have heard that some plates are on the rear of the seat bulkhead against the wardrobe or behind the wardrobe, just hear say as I have never seen that, saying that I have had a good look between the two with a torch and can't see anything, on my car behind the drivers side seat belt reel mount is the Australian compliance plate, behind the passengers seat is the paint code sticker and that is it, cheers, anyone care to share a pic of their Sopru plate, maybe they ran out of plates when mine went through, cheers Greg

Sure is. Who'd have thought it was this random:rolleyes:!!!
That was the day the apprentice forgot to put it on:rolleyes:. You was robbed Greg;). Any spare rivet holes? behind either seat?

    More random Sopru outcomes:confused:.
    Cheers

David there are no spare rivet holes thats why I asked the question if they had rivets or were sticky, you may be right about the apprentice, either that or it was a Friday arvo when they finished it, cheers Greg

Ok so I may need to get new glasses as I have just found two holes behind the passenger seat, they look to be about 1/8" holes and they are 60mm apart on a vertical plane, how far apart are the rivets and what way is the plate fixed, maybe someone has knocked mine off, cheers Greg

Hi all, just cast my vote = no plate at all.
From what I've been told "Gertie" my 75 camper, is is a sopru conversion, all the cupboards in the back have been removed by previous owner and there is '77 hand written on the wall, and behind the drivers seat,I'm sure there are some drill holes behind the drivers seat too. Maybe the plate was removed when the fit out was? R&R bed and pop top is all that remains. Makes it easier to fit the mountain bikes in for a weekend way! Different pop top to other Sopru camper too. Maybe 77 was an odd year for them......

    Hope this helps;).
And note the "10"/76. The 10 is stamped & the rest of the plate is engraved:confused: & Barry has no stamped month. Bloody apprentices forget to do stuff:oops:.
The last sequence of numbers on both are different in size.
    Cheers

Probably. Don't know how I'm going to do the 'randomness' tho':p. If not on gumtree I think I've just found a new business:D!

& the engraving will look as bad as theirs;). Oh ....& just forget the fitment of the odd plate & don't stamp the month on every second one:oops:. Now that's doable after a bottle of wine:D.
You guys can be so rude:(.

Thanks Dave, the holes in mine do not match the plate so someone must have drilled them for something else, my last 76 was built in the 5th month, Riverina Orange, Sopru Deluxe that I owned for 26 years I never saw that plate behind the seats either, my first Flipper blue Sopru which I bought when I was 20 wasn't the deluxe and being so long ago I don't remember if it had the plate or not
