You have the wrong ID plate on it. The ID plate is from a 1967 bus. None of the features you mentioned match a 1967 bus.
Look for the chassis number in the engine bay. The plate on a 57 bus should be in the engine bay, not behind the drivers seat.
A 57 should also have semaphores, not nipple indicators on the front.

Thanks. Thought it looked like the wrong plate. No semaphores. When did it change to nipple indicators? Ill look in engine bay when it is light tomorrow

Is this an Aussie bus, or a USA import?

    I can't tell if 62 or 63, but leaning towards 63.
Small back window, oval back lights, nipple indicators, glass mixture of 62 &63 (dot over r in some & m in others), stamp near RH front door hinge 5/63
Stamped number LH side of engine: K1991

Need stamp # on right hand side
Check back of speedo, fuel gauge or a little stamped circle with numbers within, on the top hinge of cab door between the 3 spot welds, mine has 10/62 makes it a 63 model

Not to sure if this is correct, but yours could be a 62 as you have 9 air vents for engine, mine has 8

Hi, I recently picked a Splitty out of field and unfortunately the VIN plate was very corroded and none of the numbers are visible. I did however find the following number stamped into the chassis on the lefthand side of the engine bay, VWK 6751. I was wondering if you could confirm what this is? A friend who has two 56 splits said that the 7 could relate to the year of manufacture, thus a 57? He has 6 in the same place. I have also attached some pictures for your reference. Many thanks Ben

It is possibly a 59 or 60 model. The chassis number will be stamped on the right side of the engine bay.

my bus is a 58 walkthrough panel - and have been told they didnt make a lot of them. any idea on quantities?

problem i have is it is LHD and being a panel i am not super comfortable merging onto a hwy without being able to see across. i want to convert it but have been advised to keep it original, even though it doesnt have the original 1200, but a 1600.
    decisions decisions...
