Put a new Ignition switch in Sams Kombi a week or so ago then the other day it started playing up again and demonstrating exactly every symptom in @oldman 's initial post in this thread. Parker's only, no head lights, high beams not staying on, no wipers unless high beam switch was held forward etc. Last night I put my spare in and all good.
The ignition switch we put on initially was a cheap one from ebay

The one I put on mine and the spare I replaced Sam's with was this one, a german, one from JK. Just a thought that the cheaper ones may be faulty.

Hi Guys, being newbie just wondering if there is another thread somewhere that lists recommended spares for Bay and Splitty owners. Or should I start a thread to construct a recommended "field HOT spares kit".?

I haven't carried any spares for 39 years:oops:. Probably could have done with a spare clutch cable (or 10) over the years;)Propper Planning Prevents anxiety:rolleyes:. I now carry this.
Clutch cable (if you can't do the shuffle)
    Accelerator cable
    Fuel pump & filter
    Air Flow Meter (F/I only)
    Ignition switch
    Cylinder Head temp gauge
    Dissy cap & points
    Plug lead
    Spark plug caps
Half a Kombi under your back seat friz & then you won't need it:)!
    Cheers
