need help...is this stuff dangerous....would it contain any bad shite..eg asbestos...just being carefull....thanks:umm: cargo door tail gate
Be ware ........it worse than that please deliver the splitty to Doc's place ..... Nuh just kidding its glass wool its a bradford Bat by the looks of it
Can get into your lungs as well as make you itch ...if you line it with foil your house will burn down ....used more in houses than cars
Looks like old glass wool batts. Not quite as bad as asbestos but still very dangerous. The tiny fibres are spear shaped and lodge themselves in your lungs. Once they're there, thats where they stay. Make sure you wear a dust mask when removing it and not one of those crappy ones you've got lying around the shed. Go for a P2 minimum rating.
thanks guys ..its well packed.....think they put it in when they laid the interior...:umm: .will wear mask just in case
Fibre batt type material was original in late Bay engine covers. Has a plastik sheet over it and a wire thingy to hold it in. Not usually in the doors.
whatever you do , if it is insulation do not accidently rub your eyes after handling, i did this once and had swollen itchy eyes for days....OUCHY!!!
Its starting to grow on me...and Lyn of course...those old people with thr T3 came for dinner 2night....think its growing on them too:lol:
Warts grow on you too, doesn't mean they're any good. The splitty should come to me because I'm old & therefore I am not afraid of insulation in any form. Surely you mean that charming young couple with their T3.:umm:
They no it's not a really kombi right??? Oopps sounds say that 2 loud hey don... Lol sorry couldn't help myself! Mr Ling.
Beware of the insulation covering the heater tube under the van, I am sure they used asbestos on that. Also it's free to join SSVC forum,, you only pay to join the culb if you want to. Ask on there re the interior. Dave
As stated before, ANY respirable particles/dust are hazardous. If they are Bradford Bats, look up the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) for correct handling/storage/disposal and exposure procedures. Definately P2 mask and a disposable jumpsuit would serve you well. Working as a Safety Officer in construction, I am constantly alerting guys about this stuff. With this kind of thing if you are unsure it contains asbestos, treat it as if it is! You never know.
Arrrrr, Peter Garet, he is starting up a new band called, Midnight Foil, first song. Houses burning down
