    Hey all, need help!
Has anyone replaced the needle from a speedo?
Are the available as a spare part?
    Who can change them over?
Is it just a throw away?

Spent ages trying to find a grey face in KM's it arrived today in the post with the needle broken.
    Where to from here?

Needles are a gentle pry upwards to remove.
Guess pick one from another gauge is most likely replacement.

What cbus had said would be the way to go.Remember when putting new one on to remember the spring tension that is on the needle, which holds it to the pin stop. So when you put the new one on put the needle pointing the same way it would be know then you push it up and over the stop which then should have the right tension on the needle. If the needle was intact in would be pointing to the white mark above the vdo writing.

    Wayne,
    Thanks for the heads up.
I can see that this may need a few attempts.

I've pulled apart lots of speedos. Some needles can be right bastards to remove. Fingers crossed yours pops straight off.
Just to add, there where 2 grey faced speedos around 73/4. The earlier ones had the silver centre on the needle, which is the same as 68-72. The later ones had black centre on the needle same as the one pictured above. So I guess any year bay needle will work and not look out of place. I've got a few spare here if you need one shoot me a PM.

Hey Pedr, there is a shop in Brisbane that repairs Guages, I got my instrument cluster done, looks like new. Lionel Otto Instruments on Evans Road, they got my radio working also...

Speedo pointers are just a press fit. Theoretically just pull off BUT they have been there for a long time and may be very tight.
The next challenge is to put the pointer in the correct alignment. Not much point (excuse the pun) if you put it back in the wrong place and speedo
reads incorrectly. Note carefully where it is pointing before you attempt removal. May work?

    Hi Pedr,
You can have this one if suitable - has a broken drive gear.

I'm also looking for a needle for a late bay. If anybody else has a broken speedo or knows where a needle is laying around, please let me know.
    Thanks.
