Finished the front of house rebuild of last week. Replaced the T3 tacho cluster printed circuit foil with a GoWesty printed circuit board kit after years of gradual system failures. Bought the kit years ago but ......... So nice to have everything back, digital clock, dash lights and dimmer switch, flashing red light water temperature systems check, fuel gauge .... GoWesty make it so easy with printed instructions and video guides. Nearly ready for Covid lift off.

Does the water temp light work on an air cooled T3?

Yes it does. But there is no signal from the water temp sender as there is none. Connect an oil temp sender and the water temp gauges springs to life as an oil temp gauge.

So you have a later tacho dash, for a water cooled, adapted to run on an aircooled?

    Great stuff! :)

T'is not rocket science, 3 instrument clusters were made for oil cooled, DG and MV water coolers. The basic bones for all 3 were the same other than subtle changes for each model, such as adding a tacho and water temp circuit to the DG and MV, then a dynamic oil pressure circuit to the MV. Converting one to the other happens at the 14 pin connector. Adding an oil temp sender to a post 82 cluster fitted to an '82 happens at pin 6. Am still amazed at how the '82 carries many of the fixtures used in later variants.

Three weeks ago I ran a temporary wire from sender unit to fuel gauge to see if it sorted out the incorrect fuel gauge readings I was getting. Today I put in a permeant wire from Sender unit to the T8 wire connector behind the glove box, Running the new wire long side the original wire harness. Gauge still reads correct as the temporary wire had.
In the three weeks I had filled up a couple of times at different gauge readings to see how the gauge was reading to what I think should be in the tank at those fuel gauge reading.
Solves that problem onto the next one.:D

Yes thanks to you @oldman and @Alpal .
I was contemplating changing over the whole fuel system to the earlier style sender unit. Touch wood haven’t had a problem with them.

Installed a dash cam mirror reverse camera. Parkmate brand through Anaconda. $100 online.
5" screen for the cameras and the mirror is about 10" and works very well.
Had to remove some vinyl to run the cables. Found extra cables.
Replaced the vinyl with some material that we had the seats recovered with.
Finally put the LED lightbar switch into the dash.
Added landrover mirrors, but may make different mounts. Thought I'd be special but worked out that I'm not.
Car had a heart transplant a few weeks ago. Now 2.5l.

Started the T3 and let it run for awhile, also let the AC cycle to keep the compressor seal and system lubed.
Nice to hear Paladin purring away over the whine of the condenser fans..............all's good. :)
