Before the Nissan drove off into the sunset, the new owner (and staffer from Shannon's) offered to cancel and refund my comprehensive insurance by direct deposit BSB. Gotta love Shannon's.

Big thanks to Wayne for bringing these weather shields up from Sydney that I picked up on Facebook Marketplace. For $50, I was happy to get them - they are genuine VW. Thanks Wayne!

Scraped off the old double sided tape, bought some new stuff and put them on. Thanks for the Kombi Express!! It would have been very frustrating getting them posted and risking damage - they are just too hard to find - they are 22 years old!

After our trip to Darwin and QLD, now trying to make the toybus a bit more cumpfy, shortened up the bed from long wYs to cross ways. Already had heaps of room
    And now has more, 0CA1FC1C-86C6-4393-BD08-F0E2F76296F2.jpeg D4887685-0828-4254-8AEA-38CFABB14DE9.jpeg 0CAC961B-B66F-410D-88EB-6938D38FE514.jpeg

Today pulling engine from square back. Checked oil...
    image000000_01.jpg
    Undid sump plug....
    Nothing!
Tipping the oils pretty thick and the filter is gummed up.

As the Notch is an auto and only has a plate not a fly wheel I have to work out how to crack the crank nut. The ring gear is on the torque converter. Think I will have to get hold of a rattle gun.

While in Adelaide last weekend, while retrieving the boss from her trip to Hervey Bay:oops:, I got a 36mm impact socket and an air impact wrench.
During the week my gutless little compressor achieved the miracle of removing the gland nut from the squareback engine.
Today it performed another miracle and undid the gland nut from the Notch engine! One more and I'll get it sainted!
So put a new crank seal in the "square" engine...

Anyone know what these casting numbers represent. Just curious.

Put the drive plate (can't call it a flywheel) from the Notch on then began swapping bits.
Carbs, distributer, balance pipes, fuel pump, the near new plugs I put in a few months ago, fuel lines, throttle linkage one piece of tinware as it has a cutout for the vacuum tube to the auto trans. Think I've got everything.
Finally I pulled the oil filter plate off...
    image000000_08.jpg
    The sludge gets hang time!
    image000000_07.jpg
And the mesh is almost leak proof!

Now a serious question. How can I flush the engine before putting it in the car?
