    Back in the early '70s, VW advertised "VW Diagnosis" as the new way to test you vehicle. Basically just a test point for voltmeters and checking the timing etc. In the dealerships were large blue boxes that were mostly empty. Discontinued around 1977 but good for spare wires. From memory there is a blue/white (?) cable that runs from front to rear that can be used for a tacho. :idea:

    I was told that was a computer diagnostic connection, but no such computer made it to any servicing center in Australia. I have removed mine and there is no problems. Just be careful the big red wire has power.
