The front rack on Sam is a modified JustKampers one, so they fit, and allow the pop top to work.

However, I agree getting the spare up and down would be a problem.
Also the added windage from the wheel up there would not help top end speed.

Half a tyre width if you check the picture. So about 10cm longer Sonya.
Would also suggest that the first spare be kept low for easy access. So a choice between @Nozza bracket & original Sopru pipe bar (that I reckon is crap) or one from Allbars.com .https://www.allbarsandracks.com.au/product/volkswagen-bullbars/. Can't find the photo I want but they're very sleek. Sleeker than the one on my bus that came from him.

He'll want your bus for a week.

What is your Australian number above or near by the chassis number? as mine is a microbus but not a deluxe with chrome strip etc.

DD25ABFF-CF49-44CF-B85F-BED8FAB416AE.jpeg Do you mean the VIN? 2262080644

In the engine bay this is stamped into the body and there is another “tag” spot welded below it and pretty sure that number is 224031 0501

    Does that sound right?

That sounds right. I wanted to see if the Australian version on a deluxe had 24 at the beginning instead of the 22 for a microbus, thanks Barry. My 72 Australian number has 7 digits and the 76 SC ute has 10.
As the number suggests it's a microbus, yours bus has the deluxe trim.

Was lovely camping out last night in the kombi in the rain till I realised she had leaks. Got 3 leaking window seals. All window seals are new. Can anyone offer any advice please?!

Got a leak in the seal in the windscreen. One in a side window and one in the back. Really heavy rain I drove home in it at 4am but the leaks showed before it got too heavy.

It may be just a matter of taking the windscreen out and putting it back in again.
Or maybe a better windscreen rubber.
They can be difficult to fit and if it had not been in torrential rain before after its rebuild you wouldn’t know.

    What sort of side window?
    Flippers, slide or fixed.

When you say back - do you mean window or did you have the pop top up?

Ok - went back and see you have sliders and I’m pretty sure they are Just Kampers ones.

Again you will probably need to take it out and refit it. They can be fiddley to get 100% perfect.

It's the fixed window behind the slider that's leaking.
Thanks but "just a matter of taking out windscreen and putting back in" thats major and makes me want to cry! I was hoping for squirt on a bit of silicon she'll be right Lol

Now now........ not many of us would own a Kombi that doesn’t leak to some degree in a torrential downpour let alone one that has been owned for a matter of weeks.

good thing you weren’t in a tent like me

Fairo but I'm still sulking! it quite a big leak and a puddle of water left on dash! If water is leaking through and drying out hopefully won't lead to rust?
